If you haven’t seen this announcement from Sensis, that’s ok – we didn’t see it either.
Last month Sensis launched Sensis Digital Display – a “unique one-stop online platform.”
Sensis Digital Display provides an easy to use interface for business to creating online advertising banners and run them as campaigns on selected websites. Your ad is mobile friendly and can include click to call buttons, maps and links to your social media accounts. The campaign manager automatically displays your ad on the best websites and to the right suburbs to capture the attention of your target audience.
It’s understandable that Sensis should tackle this particular business challenge. Having a digital presence is something we all know we should be doing, but that requires engaging a graphic designer and investing time and money. Online marketing, like traditional marketing, is a skill itself and the best results come with the commitment to measure and adjust your messages. We assume that Sensis has seen a downturn in paper advertising in its printed books so they have been offering other services in the online advertising space already. Ease of use is a key factor for time-poor small businesses.
But we’re wondering if they’ve left it too late? Tech savvy buyers are embracing ad blocking software and pop-ups are almost a thing of the past. The very fact that this announcement didn’t hit our radar makes us question how much of an authority Sensis are perceived as in the digital space.
